“Rick is a magnificent teacher. He has transformed my guitar playing and musicianship, in general.

I now have been playing guitar for 40 years.  When I first met Rick several years ago, I had decided to take lessons after many years learning on my own.  My guitar playing had stalled and I was not able to break through to another level of playing that I desired, but seemed elusive. There were very few players I wanted to emulate, and had not been able to find any teachers that I wanted to learn from.

I did an exhaustive search and interviewed a number of teachers, asking them specifically what advanced material they could teach me.  I was prepared to sign on with a teacher who was not nearby, and thus did a national search to find someone who could teach me what I wanted to learn.  After interviewing many teachers—both near and far—I was fortunate enough to be connected with Rick, and as luck would have it, we live in the same city.

Rick has unlocked many secrets about advanced guitar playing that were inscrutable to me before, and I continue to learn from him.  Additionally, his training as a violin and mandolin player gives him an added dimension of musical understanding that many guitar players don’t have. I would highly recommend him—whatever your level of playing is.”

“What a stroke of luck that I was given Rick Sailon’s name by Instrumental Music as a violin tutor!

Rick was just amazing, he started me on the very first Suzuki book and sat patiently while I screeched out Twinkle Twinkle and other familiar tunes. He was encouraging and nurtured my interest and soon I was practicing and playing all kinds of music. He steadily challenged me with more difficult pieces and reassured me after a few years that I was ready to join some local string ensembles.

What struck me most about Rick was that he was assuredly one of the most gifted musicians I’d ever heard. He can play multiple string instruments like a virtuoso. Soon my family and friends were introduced to the band he plays in – “The Acoustic Saints” (who incidentally, has a major local following). My husband labeled him a “National Treasure”.

He’s the most conscientious and caring tutor, patient, kind, a ton of fun and he loves teaching. Despite having a full schedule, he has never been late for a class or cancelled for any reason.  I feel so blessed and fortunate to have Rick share his gift of music with me. ”
